According to a Facebook post from the College Station Police Department, just before 6 p.m. on March 5, officers responded to a tip about a wanted husband and wife suspected of shoplifting from various stores in Texas, including Walgreens.

Because the couple appeared to be on a Walgreens binge, law enforcement prepared by stationing officers throughout College Station. The couple arrived at one of the Walgreens locations as planned, and both husband and wife were detained. They were both identified and confirmed as the duo who wanted to leave Plano.

Following their arrest, police recovered 882 stolen items worth approximately $10,000… from Walgreens alone!

It turned out that each spouse had several active arrest warrants. For example, the wife, Maria Stoican, had seven warrants in addition to the failure to identify the fugitive:

  • Theft of property greater than $100, less than $750 – Burleson PD
  • Theft of property $750 less than $2500 – Euless PD
  • Theft of property $100 less than $750 – Grapevine PD
  • Theft of property $100 less than $750 – Harris County SO
  • Shoplifting with fake ID – Rockford PD
  • Active warrant out of Sacramento County, CA
  • Retail theft – Will County, IL

Maria’s husband, Emmanual Stoican, had a Harris County warrant for theft ranging from $100 to $750, as well as additional charges for marijuana possession.

But Wait, There’s More…

This story would be incomplete without a plot twist. The Stoicans had two children, an infant and a two-year-old, who were present during their parents’ shoplifting sprees!

Both children were taken to Child Protective Services because the husband and wife face charges.
