Father Asked the 12-Year-Old's Mother if She Wanted to Talk to Her Daughter 'one Last Time' Before Murdering Her

A man in Kentucky, Stacy Collins, has been sentenced to two life terms in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping and murdering his 12-year-old daughter, Stacia Collins, in a horrifying 2022 case that shocked the community.

The 50-year-old father admitted to shooting his daughter after sending her mother a disturbing text message, asking if she wanted to talk to her child “one last time.”

A Chilling Text Message and a Heartbreaking Outcome

The tragedy unfolded on August 16, 2022, when Stacia’s mother, Summer Mullins, received a terrifying message from Collins. It read:

“Do you want to talk to your daughter one last time?”

When Mullins tried to respond, she got no answer. Her daughter, who had not gone to school that day, was later found dead from a gunshot wound, miles away from home.

What Happened to Stacy Collins?

Later that same day, police found Stacy Collins with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, in what appeared to be a suicide attempt. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and then arrested.

He was charged with kidnapping and murder, and placed in the Big Sandy Detention Center.

In March 2025, Collins agreed to plead guilty as part of a deal with prosecutors. On April 16, a judge sentenced him to two life sentences, which will be served concurrently. He will be eligible for parole after 25 years.

Mother’s Heartbreaking Words in Court

During the sentencing, Summer Mullins bravely spoke in court. Her emotional words to Stacy Collins, as reported by WSAZ, were:

“I hope you go to the worst place in Hell for all eternity.”

Mullins had shared the disturbing text message with the media back in 2022, and said she never got a reply from Collins — or ever heard her daughter’s voice again.

Legal and Emotional Closure

Stacy Collins remains in custody and is expected to be transferred to a state prison, where he will serve out his sentence. While justice has been served in court, the emotional pain for the mother and family will likely last a lifetime.
