A routine traffic stop in Wichita County led to the discovery of a large amount of cocaine and the arrest of one person, according to officials. The incident happened on Tuesday, March 24, and is now under federal investigation.
Where and How It Happened
The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit, working with the HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) Task Force, pulled over a vehicle on US 287 South near Hammon Road.
During the stop, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered a shocking amount of illegal drugs — around five pounds of cocaine hidden inside.
One Arrest Made, Suspect in Federal Custody
A male suspect was arrested at the scene. He has since been placed in federal custody, as the case now involves possible federal drug trafficking charges.
Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name, but Texoma’s Homepage reports they are working to confirm the identity of the person arrested.

Possessing and transporting five pounds of cocaine is considered a major drug offense, likely involving intent to distribute, which can lead to lengthy prison sentences under federal law.
