A manhunt led by the U.S. Marshals Service ended in Wichita Falls, where 32-year-old Dreonte Dillard, a fugitive wanted on multiple felony charges, was captured just days after cutting off his ankle monitor.
Originally believed to be residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Dillard was the subject of a widespread search after the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Arlington Police Department, and Irving Police Department issued warrants for his arrest.
His list of charges includes Assault of a Pregnant Person, Continuous Family Violence, Resisting Arrest, and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.
The Arrest in Wichita Falls
On April 24, 2025, authorities discovered that Dillard had cut off his court-ordered ankle monitor and vanished. That same day, the U.S. Marshals shared his warrant publicly, urging the community to report any sightings or tips.
Just two days later, on April 26, Dillard was located and arrested in Wichita Falls, according to the Wichita County Jail records. His capture was officially announced on May 1 by the North Texas Fugitive Task Force via the U.S. Marshals Service Dallas Twitter account.
Dillard’s Charges and Bonds
Dillard faces several serious charges, with bond amounts totaling $66,500. His highest bond, set at $25,000, stems from a domestic violence assault with a deadly weapon charge out of Tarrant County. This is considered a first-degree felony, carrying a potential penalty of 5 to 99 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Due to the victim being pregnant at the time of the alleged assault, the charges are even more severe. The legal system takes these cases extremely seriously, especially when they involve vulnerable individuals and multiple prior offenses.
Multi-Agency Effort
Dillard’s arrest was made possible by cooperation between multiple law enforcement agencies. The U.S. Marshals, Tarrant County authorities, and local officers in Wichita Falls worked together to bring him into custody quickly. His attempt to flee was unsuccessful, and he now awaits court proceedings for a long list of charges.
With felony charges from several jurisdictions, Dillard will likely face multiple court dates and a complex legal process. His bonds reflect the severity of his alleged crimes, and the courts will determine whether additional charges will be added, especially related to his attempt to evade justice by disabling his monitoring device.
