So where will this colossal Costco warehouse be? Midland, Texas—right in the heart of the Permian Basin—will become the proud home of the Lone Star State’s biggest Costco.
For Midland residents, this is a game-changer, as the nearest Costco until now was more than 100 miles away in Lubbock, with other Costco locations in El Paso and Fort Worth even farther. This new store will bring Costco right to the doorsteps of thousands of Texans.
A Quick Turnaround: Opening Early
Excitement has been building ever since the groundbreaking ceremony in December. Officials from Costco and Midland gathered to celebrate the start of construction, and Mayor Lori Blong even called the project a major win for the city, citing the fast-tracked construction and strong collaboration.
Originally set to open by August 2026, the project is now ahead of schedule and is on track to welcome its first customers by July 2025.
