'Give Me My Power' Man 'Disemboweled' His 74-Year-Old Father, Slit His Throat, and Then Left Him to Rot Inside His Home, Believing He Was an Alien, Police Say

EL PASO, Texas – A deeply disturbing case has emerged from El Paso, where a 39-year-old man is accused of murdering his own father in a violent act fueled by delusions involving aliens and supernatural power.

Authorities say Jaime Adrian Contreras brutally disemboweled, slit the throat, and left 74-year-old Victor Gerardo Contreras to die inside his home—just two days after attacking him with a hammer.

The elderly man’s decomposing body was discovered last weekend at his residence on Ronald McNair Drive, according to the El Paso Police Department.

Disturbing Details of the Crime

According to charging documents obtained by KTSM News, Jaime Contreras had become obsessed with the belief that his father was not human, but an extraterrestrial being trying to harvest his organs.

The documents state that Contreras told investigators he had been “battling” with his father and that he demanded, “Give me my power,” during one of the altercations.

In the final violent act, police allege that Contreras mutilated his father’s body and left it inside the home, where it began to rot before officers discovered it days later.

A Pattern of Violence and Delusions

Records show this was not the first time Jaime Contreras displayed troubling behavior. On April 5, just two days before the alleged murder, Victor Contreras called police, saying his son had attacked him with a hammer and was “acting crazy again.” He reportedly told his wife the same thing, expressing concern over Jaime’s increasingly unstable actions.

Police responded to the scene and documented that Jaime had threatened his father and even claimed to have killed his father’s pets. However, that visit was ultimately closed out as a non-incident, and Jaime’s mental health at the time was deemed “okay,” according to KTSM.

Past Incidents Paint a Disturbing Picture

Court records from 2023 reveal two prior incidents involving Jaime Contreras, both of which raise additional red flags:

  • In one instance, he was seen walking around the neighborhood with a decapitated rabbit.
  • In another, he reportedly suffered a mental breakdown, again claiming his father was an alien.

Despite these signs, no long-term intervention appears to have taken place prior to this latest tragedy.

Legal Proceedings and Current Status

Jaime Adrian Contreras was arrested this week and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a charge of murder. His bond has been set at $2 million, and he remains in custody. At this time, it is unclear whether he has retained legal representation.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether additional charges could be filed, including potential charges related to animal cruelty or mental health evaluations that may now become part of the court proceedings.
