Houston Funeral Home Mutilates the Body of Registered Sexual Offender

A Houston funeral home has become the center of a gruesome case after 34-year-old embalmer Amber Paige Laudermilk was charged with mutilating the body of a deceased registered sex offender. The disturbing incident took place on February 7, 2025, at Memorial Mortuary and Crematory in Houston, Texas.

Authorities say Laudermilk allegedly chopped off the penis of 58-year-old Charles Roy Rodriguez, stuffed it into his mouth, and stabbed his body with a scalpel while preparing him for cremation. The case has shocked many, sparking discussions about ethics, legal responsibility, and potential personal motives behind her actions.

What Happened at the Funeral Home?

The Mutilation of Charles Roy Rodriguez

Laudermilk was preparing Rodriguez’s body for cremation when she allegedly committed the brutal act. According to court documents, she:

  • Severed his penis and placed it in his mouth.
  • Stabbed the body with a scalpel multiple times.

The shocking scene unfolded in front of two other people in the room. After mutilating the body, Laudermilk turned to an embalming trainee and reportedly warned, “You didn’t see anything.”

Suspicion from the Funeral Director

Following the incident, the funeral director noticed Laudermilk fondling the decedent’s mouth and questioned her about Rodriguez’s groin area, noticing it was severely disfigured. Laudermilk allegedly dismissed the concerns, stating, “He had a lot going on with him,” before covering up the lower body.

Possible Motive: Was It Personal?

Rodriguez’s Criminal Past

Authorities have not yet confirmed Laudermilk’s exact motive, but some speculate that Rodriguez’s history as a registered sex offender may have played a role in her actions.

Precinct One Constable Alan Rosen addressed the case, stating:

“I don’t know the suspect’s past, but we have the utmost empathy for anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault or knows someone who has.”

However, he also emphasized that regardless of a person’s criminal past, the law requires that all deceased individuals be treated with dignity.

“No matter what one thinks of his life, the law requires that he be treated with dignity in death.”

Legal Consequences and What’s Next?

Laudermilk has been arrested and charged for her actions, but it remains unclear what specific charges she will face beyond abuse of a corpse. Authorities are still investigating her motives and mental state at the time of the crime.

Constable Rosen added that he hopes she gets the help she needs, stating:

“The facts clearly indicate she was angry, and I hope after this is resolved in the courts, she gets the help she needs.”
