In a deeply heartbreaking incident, a young family of four, including two small children, was found dead in their home in Montana, USA. The police believe it was a case of murder-suicide, carried out by the father of the family.

What Happened in Kalispell, Montana?

On Sunday morning, May 11, just before 6 a.m., the Kalispell Police Department received a mental health emergency call from a man. According to police, the man made some alarming statements and then suddenly ended the call. Officers rushed to the house located in Silverbrook Estates, a quiet residential area in Kalispell, Montana.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a tragic scene inside the home. Four members of the same family had been killed by gunshot wounds, including a 7-month-old baby, a 6-year-old child, and both parents.

Who Were the Victims?

Police identified the father and suspected shooter as Nicholas Olson-Hartley, aged 33. His wife was identified as Katie Olson-Hartley, 27 years old. Their two children, a baby and a young child, also lost their lives in the incident.

Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio confirmed that it appears Nicholas killed his family before ending his own life. The police believe he made the emergency call just before taking his own life after committing the murders.

Police Reaction and Investigation

In a press release, Chief Venezio said, “It appears Nicholas Olson-Hartley took the lives of his young family before calling 911. After making the phone call to dispatch, he took his own life.”

He also mentioned that after gathering evidence and speaking to several people, investigators strongly believe it was a case of murder-suicide.

Kalispell Police assured the public that this was an isolated case and there is no ongoing danger to the community.

The police also expressed their grief in the statement: “The Kalispell Police Department mourns with the family that is suffering from this senseless tragedy.” Officers who responded to the scene are being given mental health support to help them deal with the emotional trauma of the situation.
