The streets of West Texas have become safer after recent actions by the Texas Attorney General’s Office. This week, more than 40 dangerous fugitives were arrested, including individuals with violent felony convictions, gang affiliations, and sex offense warrants, as well as those facing immigration issues.
44 Fugitives Arrested in Lubbock and Abilene
In a significant operation, the Texas Attorney General’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested 44 fugitives in the Lubbock and Abilene areas. The operation targeted individuals who were violating parole and had violent criminal backgrounds.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the successful apprehension of these individuals, emphasizing the importance of getting dangerous criminals off the streets to protect the public.
Among the arrested, one person had a warrant for a sex offense, and 12 of the individuals were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The law enforcement effort was focused on those with violent felony convictions and gang ties.
“Getting these dangerous criminals off our streets will help make our state safer,” said Attorney General Paxton. He also praised the efforts of law enforcement officers in the Fugitive Apprehension Unit, as well as the bravery and professionalism of all contributing agencies.

The Fugitive Apprehension Unit, a key part of the Texas Attorney General’s Office, consists of a team of investigators, analysts, and support staff. Their primary responsibility is to locate and arrest violent fugitives, convicted child sex offenders, and assist in finding missing or runaway children.
This specialized unit works with various law enforcement agencies across the state to ensure the removal of dangerous individuals from communities, helping to make Texas safer.
