Increasing cloud coverage, storm chances Wednesday and Thursday

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Mostly clear skies start off Wednesday, but that cloud coverage is expected to increase throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

Winds will also start to increase out of the south. Those breezy winds will help to heat up the region as temperatures climb up into the upper 80s and lower 90s ahead of the rain later in the evening.

Storms will become more widespread into the evening hours, with some storms becoming severe at times. The greatest concern will be the large hail threat and gusty winds, while the tornado threat will stay low. Storm severity will remain higher along the northwestern parts of Texoma.

The storm threat will slide to the southeast through the overnight hours and throughout the day on Thursday.

Wichita County declares disaster amid recent excessive rains

Thursday, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across Texoma. The increased storm activity will help to keep those afternoon temperatures a bit on the cooler side, as afternoon highs will reach into the upper 70s.

Storms will be widespread throughout the day and start to decrease and move out of the region through the overnight hours into the early morning hours on Friday.

This weekend, drier conditions return to Texoma, and plan on getting a bit of better weather for any outdoor plans for Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures will climb up into the lower 90s and continue to increase into next week, as temperatures reach up into the mid 90s by the middle of the week.
