Jack in the Box Closing Up to 200 Locations: Could El Paso Be Affected?

Jack in the Box Closing Up to 200 Locations Could El Paso Be Affected

It’s a rough week for curly fry fans and late-night snack lovers. Jack in the Box has just announced that it will be closing between 150 and 200 restaurants as part of a new cost-cutting plan.

While they haven’t revealed exactly which locations will shut down, many in El Paso are wondering if their favorite spots could soon disappear.

Jack’s New Plan: Cutting Costs and Changing the Menu

The company’s new CEO is launching a plan called “JACK on Track” to get the brand back into better financial shape. The idea? Focus on fewer but more profitable restaurants.

As part of the plan:

  • Jack in the Box will close underperforming locations.
  • They are eliminating their shareholder dividend.
  • They are selling off real estate.
  • They are even looking to sell Del Taco, which they own.

It sounds a lot like a financial fire sale, and it signals big changes ahead for the company — and possibly for loyal customers too.

If you’ve ever had to wait nearly an hour at the drive-thru at 2 a.m., only to hear they are out of tacos or ice cream, well, that Jack in the Box might just be one of the ones at risk!

Could El Paso Locations Be Affected?

Let’s be honest — some of El Paso’s Jack in the Box locations are charming but definitely vintage. The company said most closures would target older locations that aren’t performing well financially.

Texas, with its many Jack in the Box outlets, is definitely part of the discussion. Given that same-store sales are already down 4.4% and 12 locations closed just last quarter, it’s not a stretch to think El Paso could lose a few stores by the end of 2025.

Though we don’t know for sure yet which locations are being considered, it’s smart to enjoy your Ultimate Cheeseburger while you still can.

No Official List Yet, But Important Updates Are Coming

So far, the company hasn’t released an official list of the stores that will close. However, the next earnings call is scheduled for May 14, and Jack in the Box is expected to share more details then.

Until then, it might be a good idea to make a few extra stops at your favorite Jack in the Box locations — just in case they don’t survive the cuts.

Because honestly, who wants to live in a world where an Oreo Shake or those perfect curly fries aren’t just a drive-thru away?
