In a recent announcement, JCPenney revealed that its warehouse located in Haslet, Texas, will be shutting down by November 2025, leading to job losses for many employees. When Was the Warehouse Closure Announced?
The closure announcement was made in May 2025, as reported by USA Today. While no detailed explanation has been provided regarding the reasons behind the shutdown, JCPenney issued a statement expressing the difficulty of the decision. The company stated:
“While this decision was difficult, it was necessary to build a stronger, more competitive company…We appreciate the contributions of all affected associates, who had been previously notified of our decision, and are committed to supporting them with transition resources, including severance and benefits.”

Who Will Be Affected by the Closure?
According to USA Today, the layoffs will begin in August 2025, with 42 workers being let go from August 1st to 14th. The majority of layoffs will occur in November 2025, when 254 workers are expected to lose their jobs.
In accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN), employees who are laid off will not be allowed to take positions already filled by other associates, making it even more challenging for workers to transition into other roles within the company.
