Jelly Roll Sobs and Accuses Himself of Causing His Daughter's Anxiety

Country-rap star Jelly Roll recently opened up about a deeply personal moment involving his daughter Bailee. In a moving conversation on The Pivot podcast, the singer shared how heartbroken he felt after his daughter found out that her mother had been arrested again on drug charges.

The emotional moment left Jelly Roll in tears, as he reflected on how much pain his daughter has been through — and how much he blames himself.

What Happened With Bailee’s Mother?

Jelly Roll revealed that Bailee’s mother has been struggling with drug addiction since the day Bailee was born. Sadly, her recent arrest — reportedly for being caught with meth — brought those old wounds back for their daughter, who is now almost 17 years old.

He explained that he first heard about the arrest through a message from someone close, who sent him a news article. The story, which included a mugshot of Bailee’s mother, shook their family once again.

“I’ve seen the effect it’s had on her,” Jelly said. “It truly affected her life.”

Seeing the Pain in His Daughter’s Eyes

Talking about his daughter’s reaction, Jelly Roll said her heartbreak was hard to watch. Even though Bailee already knew about her mother’s addiction, seeing the mugshot made everything feel real again — and it hurt deeply.

“This is a 16, 17-year-old that knows her mother is a drug addict,” he said. “But seeing that photo, seeing the damage — it broke her heart.”

Jelly Roll admitted that he had to stop himself from crying as he spoke about it, saying, “I’m getting emotional.” He paused during the podcast, fanning his face to stop the tears.

He Knows It’s Different for Bailee

As a 40-year-old, Jelly says he has gone through years of therapy, found his faith in God, and has developed the tools to cope with pain. But his daughter is still young, and she’s just starting to learn how to handle these kinds of emotions.

“She doesn’t have those tools yet,” he said. “She’s still learning how to process pain like this. It hurts her in ways I can’t always fix.”

Jelly Roll Blames Himself

In one of the most heartfelt moments of the interview, Jelly Roll admitted that he blames himself for much of Bailee’s anxiety and depression, especially around her relationship with her mother.

“I told my wife, ‘I’ve invited the world into our living room, so we’ve just got to accept what comes with that,’” he said. “This is my fault more than anybody’s.”
