Juárez, Mexico – What is going on in Juárez?! First, there was a tiger found chilling in a neighborhood backyard last week, and now there’s a monkey causing a ruckus in an office building. Seriously, what’s next?!
Just days after animal protection officials seized a tiger that was being kept in a backyard under horrific conditions—no water and a dirt floor—Juárez officials captured a spider monkey running around the break room of an office building!
Juárez Turns Into a Jungle
This is officially not the Juárez we’re used to! According to a video shared by KVIA, originally from Canal 44, an animal control officer can be seen chasing the monkey as if it’s running away from HR—and it’s hilarious and concerning all at once.
PROFEPA, Mexico’s Attorney General for Environmental Protection, confirmed that this type of monkey is endangered and it’s illegal to trade them in Mexico. So, what’s going on here? It looks like someone has been running an illegal petting zoo on the side—and we’ve got so many questions!
From Tiger to Monkey: Juárez is Becoming the Wild West
Between the tiger and this monkey, it feels like Juárez is setting the stage for a live-action Jungle Book meets The Office—but with real wild animals in the mix!
As of now, there’s still no clear explanation of how or why these wild animals are turning up in such random places in Juárez. But I think we’re all nervous to see what kind of wild creature will be roaming the streets next!
