Memphis, Tennessee – June 2025 saw an early taste of summer heat and heavy rainfall across the Mid-South, with Memphis reaching 95°F and Tupelo recording its 5th wettest June on record with more than 10 inches of rain.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the city’s monthly mean temperature was 80.5°F, well above the average for June, which typically hovers around 78°F.
Memphis saw a low of 61°F, with highs peaking in the mid-90s. Memphis International Airport recorded 4.63 inches of rain, which was slightly above the monthly norm of 3.99 inches.
Jackson and Jonesboro Report Unusual Weather
In Jackson, Tennessee, the McKellar-Sipes Airport recorded a monthly mean temperature of 78.8°F, along with 5.89 inches of rainfall, significantly above the 4.76-inch average. The rainfall was higher than usual, but the temperature stayed relatively moderate compared to Memphis.
Meanwhile, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, temperatures peaked at 95°F, but the city recorded its second-coldest June on record due to cooler nights, with an overall average temperature of 71.6°F. Jonesboro received 3.74 inches of rain, surpassing the normal of 3.05 inches.
Tupelo Experiences Major Rainfall
The most notable weather event occurred in Tupelo, Mississippi, which experienced an extraordinary amount of rainfall in June. The city recorded a staggering 10.04 inches of rain, far exceeding its usual 5.01 inches. This made June 2025 the wettest June for Tupelo since 2021.

With the summer weather pattern continuing into July, residents across the Mid-South should prepare for more pop-up storms and above-normal humidity in the coming weeks. The increased rainfall and persistent heat are expected to keep the region’s weather active as the summer season continues.
