Las Vegas police have arrested 36-year-old Christopher Rainey, who is facing murder and assault charges after shooting his landlord following an eviction notice.

Incident Details and Police Response

The shooting occurred on May 29 at around 4:46 p.m., when police were called to a residence where the incident took place. Upon arrival, officers ordered everyone inside the home to come out. Rainey exited the house armed with a firearm and was promptly arrested by the police.

Eviction Notice Triggered the Shooting

According to a police statement, detectives uncovered that the victim had served Rainey an eviction notice. This sparked a brief verbal altercation, after which Rainey shot the victim multiple times.

Roommate Shares Insights on the Tragic Event

A roommate who wished to remain anonymous told 8 News Now that he had known the victim for 15 years and considered him a friend. “He didn’t deserve to die like this,” the roommate said.

The roommate also revealed that Rainey had been living at the residence for about two years but recently lost his job and was behind on rent payments. “He was asked what was going on, and he just snapped,” the roommate added.

Charges and Investigation Ongoing

Christopher Rainey now faces serious charges including murder and assault. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
