Last-minute plea halts jury selection in sexual indecency case

IOWA PARK (KFDX/KJTL) — The trial of an Iowa Park man for sexual indecency was halted after jury selection began when he pleaded to alternate charges.

Michael Crudgington was facing trial in 89th District Court this week on two counts of sexual indecency with a then 7-year-old Tarrant County girl in 2016.

Jury selection was halted, and on Monday afternoon, May 6, he pleaded instead to two counts of injury to a child by touching a child under 14 and causing serious mental injury.

The plea resulted in a punishment of 10 years probation and 240 hours of community service.

According to authorities, the girl’s mother said that her 7-year-old daughter would stay the night at a home while Crudgington was there.

She said her daughter told her that Crudgington would wake her up at night and touch her inappropriately.

Tarrant County authorities and CPS joined the investigation, and during interviews with Crudgington, officials said he denied all allegations.
