Firefighters in Archer County say a lightning strike is responsible for a house fire reported over the weekend. Thankfully, everyone inside the home made it out safely.
The fire was reported around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday in the 2000 block of Decker Road, near Sisk Road.

When emergency crews arrived, two trucks from the Holiday Police Department blocked off the street leading to Decker Road to keep the area clear.
From Sisk Road, bystanders could see heavy smoke rising and the flashing lights of fire units working to control the blaze.
According to the Bowman Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief, the homeowner said his house was struck by lightning, sparking the fire.
No Injuries Reported
Thankfully, everyone inside the home was able to get out safely. Fire officials confirmed that there were no injuries reported during the incident.
Multiple Departments Responded
Several fire departments and emergency teams came together to fight the fire, including:
- Wichita West Volunteer Fire Department (VFD)
- Lakeside City Volunteer Fire Department (VFD)
- Archer County Emergency Management
- And other local support units
Their teamwork helped contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
