Texas – In a tragic and shocking incident, a 21-year-old Texas woman, identified as M. Valdez, has been charged with manslaughter following the fatal shooting of her boyfriend, 20-year-old Daman. The incident occurred on a residential property in Texas on a Monday afternoon, and Valdez is now being held on a $1 million bond.

What Happened?

According to the local Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 3 p.m. at a private residence. Deputies responded to a 911 call and discovered Daman’s lifeless body inside a vehicle on the property. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Girlfriend Admits to Shooting

During police questioning, Valdez admitted that she had fired the gun at her boyfriend, but claimed she believed the firearm was unloaded at the time. She told investigators that she pointed the handgun in his direction and pulled the trigger, not expecting it to fire.

The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, and Valdez was formally charged with manslaughter, a second-degree felony under Texas law.

If convicted, she could face a prison sentence of two to 20 years.

Family Members Confirm Confession

As part of the ongoing investigation, deputies also interviewed family members, several of whom stated that Valdez confessed to the shooting. Police have not yet released additional details about what led to the incident or if there were any earlier signs of domestic conflict.

It remains unclear whether the couple had a history of disputes or if Valdez had any prior criminal record.

Ongoing Investigation

The Sheriff’s Office continues to collect evidence and interview witnesses to determine the full circumstances of what happened that afternoon. They are also working to understand how the firearm was handled and whether proper safety precautions were in place.

Authorities emphasized the risks of mishandling firearms, especially when individuals are untrained or unaware of a weapon’s condition.
