Lufkin, Texas – A tragic incident occurred this week at Kurth Lake, where the Lufkin Police Department has confirmed the identity of a man who drowned on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Clay Thomas Legg, a 64-year-old resident of Pollok, Texas.
What Happened?
Emergency responders were called after Legg’s boat was found abandoned in a cove on Kurth Lake. Authorities believe he fell from his boat while out on the water. A joint search and recovery operation was launched, involving multiple agencies and teams.
Rescue boats and drones were deployed to search the area. Eventually, divers discovered Legg’s body not far from the boat. According to preliminary autopsy results, his cause of death was drowning, and no foul play is suspected.
