A shocking and tragic case has come to light in Louisiana, where a woman allegedly beat a man with a bat and left him so badly injured in the middle of the street that he was later run over by two cars and killed.
The woman, Tonnisha Mitchell, aged 43, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and second-degree battery, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
What Happened?
The incident happened just after midnight on Friday. According to police, Tonnisha Mitchell and Gene Hill, a 42-year-old man, got into a heated argument while sitting in her car. The fight got worse and spilled out onto the street.
Mitchell then hit Hill multiple times on the head and body with a bat, witnesses told police. He collapsed on the ground and could not move due to the severe beating.
Moments later, two separate vehicles ran over his body as he lay helpless in the street, leading to his death on the scene, according to authorities.
Attempt to Cover Up Evidence
After attacking Hill, Mitchell fled the scene and is also accused of trying to destroy evidence at different locations nearby, said the sheriff’s office.
Police later arrested her at her home. As of now, she is being held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
Relationship Between the Two
It is still unclear what the exact relationship was between Mitchell and Hill. Police have not yet confirmed whether they were friends, family members, or in a romantic relationship.
Charges and Current Status
Tonnisha Mitchell is now facing serious legal charges:
- Manslaughter (for causing death without planning to kill)
- Second-degree battery (for serious physical harm to another person)
She has been taken into custody and remains in jail as the investigation continues.
