A massage business in Lubbock has been shut down following a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) investigation. The closure is part of a larger sweep that affected eight massage businesses across six Texas cities.
Investigation Reveals Violations and Suspected Human Trafficking
Best Massage Spa, located at 7412 S. University in Lubbock, will remain closed for at least six months. The closure is connected to suspicions of human trafficking. According to KAMC, two notes were left on the spa’s door — one from the TDLR and another from a person named “Emily,” claiming the previous owner was involved in illegal activities.
The investigation found several violations, including employees working without proper licenses. Investigators also discovered illicit advertisements linking the spa to illegal “sexual services.”
Common Ownership Among Closed Businesses
All eight massage establishments closed during the sweep are connected to the same group of owners: Ruiying Lian, Hongcui Hao, and Tianli Wang. These owners operate through companies Tongfuxin LLC and Tongfu LLC, according to the TDLR.
Other Cities and Businesses Affected
Besides Lubbock, eight other businesses in six Texas cities were shut down. Amarillo saw two massage businesses closed, and investigators found some employees living at the business locations.
Here is the list of affected businesses:
- Sunny Massage in Midland
- Pattaya Foot Reflexology in Odessa
- Thai Massage in Odessa
- Family Reflexology (two locations) in Amarillo
- Best Foot Spa in Lubbock
- Julie’s Massage in Cleburne
- Tongfuxin LLC (doing business as A Pattaya Massage) in Kerrville
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s recent investigation has led to the closure of eight massage businesses tied to suspected illegal activities, including human trafficking and unlicensed employees.
This crackdown highlights the state’s efforts to ensure legal compliance and protect the community from exploitation. Residents in these cities should be aware of these closures and report any suspicious business activity.
