Texas authorities have recently dismantled a massive violent drug trafficking ring, leading to nearly 80 arrests, the seizure of hundreds of firearms, and 50 pounds of illegal narcotics.
The operation, known as Operation Shutdown, has been described as one of the largest and swiftest crackdowns on violent crime in Tarrant County, Fort Worth, Texas, according to NBC DFW.
What Was Operation Shutdown?
Operation Shutdown was the result of an undercover investigation carried out by a coalition of agencies, including the DEA, the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and several state and federal law enforcement partners.
Over the course of two months, from April to May, the operation led to a significant reduction in violent crime in the area.

280+ firearms seized, including 147 illegal machine gun conversion devices
22 kilograms of narcotics, including cocaine, meth, heroin, and fentanyl
