TV personality Megyn Kelly recently made headlines after making bold comments about President Donald Trump during an interview with Lulu Garcia-Navarro.
Kelly’s remarks centered on Trump’s past controversies, particularly the alleged abuse by Trump against E. Jean Carroll in 1995 and 1996. However, Kelly was clear that she didn’t care about these past accusations.
Kelly’s Opinion on Trump’s Past
When asked about Trump’s questionable past with women, Kelly responded with strong words, saying, “I don’t give a s— about Trump getting handsy with somebody 20 years ago.”
She expressed that what mattered to her were his actions and policies rather than past allegations. Kelly said she wanted a president who would address issues like border control, gender in sports, and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) policies in schools.
“I want someone who will close the border, which he has. I want someone who will keep boys out of my daughter’s sports, which he has. I want someone who will stand up to the insane DEI policies, so that white kids will stop hearing in school that they’re born with some original sin from which they cannot recover, which he has,” she explained.
Defending Trump’s Alleged Past Actions
Kelly also addressed the allegations against Trump, saying that even if some of them were true, she did not believe he should be judged for them anymore. “Most of the allegations against him are much more complicated than the mainstream media would have you believe,” she stated. “And, I don’t think Donald Trump is a rapist or a sexual assaulter.”
However, Kelly did acknowledge that Trump had “taken inappropriate liberties” with women in the past, admitting that “he’s owned himself” regarding this behavior. “It’s just about so much more than that,” Kelly concluded, suggesting that the focus should be on his actions as president rather than past personal conduct.
Kelly’s Controversial Past
Kelly, who co-hosted several shows on Fox News from 2004-2017 and later anchored Megyn Kelly Today on NBC from 2017 to 2019, has been involved in controversies of her own.
In 2018, Kelly was fired from NBC after making remarks about blackface Halloween costumes, stating that it was acceptable in the past. This sparked public outrage, and Kelly was widely criticized for her comments.
Allegations Against Fox CEO Roger Ailes
Kelly is also known for her accusations against former Fox News CEO, Roger Ailes. She claimed that Ailes sexually harassed her and Gretchen Carlson, a former Fox News anchor.
The story of their allegations was adapted into the film Bombshell, which was released in December 2019. After the film’s release, Kelly expressed regret, saying that at the time of the abuse, she felt too powerless to take control of the situation.
“I do wish I had done more, even though I was powerless,” Kelly said in a YouTube video. “What if I had thrown myself on the fire back then?”
