In a shocking and heartbreaking incident from Minnesota, a 19-year-old man named J. Givens was brutally stabbed to death by two teenage boys who were foster brothers. The attackers, identified as JC (14) and J. Davila (17), allegedly lured Givens out of his home to take revenge for a personal insult. Both boys are now facing serious criminal charges.
What Happened That Night?
The incident took place on March 31, when police were called to a street around 11:30 p.m. after someone found Givens unresponsive and bleeding badly. He was taken to the hospital, but sadly, he could not be saved. An autopsy later confirmed that Givens had been stabbed 22 times, including 18 wounds to his back, one to his neck, and others to his arms and hand.
According to police, JC carried out the stabbing, while Davila helped plan and cover up the crime. JC has been charged with second-degree murder, and Davila is charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
How the Police Solved the Case
Investigators found out from Givens’ brother that the 19-year-old had gone out that night to smoke with the two teens. The three knew each other and lived just three blocks apart.
Police used surveillance footage and GPS data from Givens’ phone to trace his movements. The video showed three people walking into a wooded area — but only two came out. This, along with reports of suspicious activity at the suspects’ house, led police to search the home.

At first, JC denied involvement, but after being shown the notebook and other evidence, he admitted to the attack, saying it happened because Givens had insulted his girlfriend’s child.

Both JC and Davila were arrested earlier this month and are currently being held in custody. A court hearing is set for June 3. Prosecutors are planning to try Davila as an adult, given the seriousness of the crime and his age.
