Country music star Miranda Lambert has always loved horses, and her fans already know she enjoys showing them in competitions. But now, she’s taken that love a step further by trying her hand at a brand-new cowboy sport — mounted shooting — and she’s already making waves.
The singer recently shared a video of herself in her very first mounted shooting competition, and her skills have seriously impressed fans. With her horse Cool, Miranda galloped through the arena, firing at balloon targets like a pro.
What is Mounted Shooting?
Mounted shooting is a unique sport that mixes horseback riding with target shooting. Riders follow a specific pattern while using two revolvers to shoot at balloon targets — all while riding at full speed. It’s fast, challenging, and very cowboy-style!
According to the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA), participants use two .45 caliber single-action revolvers, each loaded with five blank rounds. Competitors must also wear proper Western clothing during the event.
Miranda’s First Jackpot Shoot
In the video shared on her social media, Miranda is seen confidently riding her horse Cool in a jackpot shoot competition — her first ever. She looks completely in control as she rides and shoots, hitting all the balloon targets like a seasoned rider.
Dressed in full Western gear, Miranda not only looked the part, but proved she’s got the skills too. She gave a big shoutout to Kendra Lenseigne, a six-time world champion and professional shooter, for training her and organizing the “Flying Pistols jackpot shoot.”
How Has She Been Preparing?
This new hobby isn’t something Miranda picked up overnight. She’s been training seriously for the past few months. Back in February, she had already shared a video of herself riding while shooting, giving fans a sneak peek of her practice sessions.
Clearly, the time and effort she’s put into the sport is paying off. Her competition video shows her riding with confidence and shooting with accuracy.
Fans and Friends React
Fans flooded the comments section with praise, but one comment stood out — and gave everyone a laugh. Nicole Combs, wife of fellow country star Luke Combs, jokingly wrote, “Remind me not to p–s you off,” with laughing emojis.
That playful comment sums up what everyone was thinking — Miranda looked like a total boss on horseback!
While she’s exploring new hobbies, Miranda hasn’t forgotten about her music. She recently released a song called “I Don’t Love Her Anymore,” which she actually wrote 20 years ago for her debut album. The song didn’t make it onto the original album, but now it’s finally out for fans to hear.
It seems Miranda is enjoying the best of both worlds — expressing herself through music and embracing her cowboy side with this thrilling new sport.
