Mississippi – In a surprising turn of events, a 34-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly robbing a Dollar General store — and then returning to the crime scene to ask police if anyone had found her missing mobile phone.
The woman, Jessinya Faye Ezell, was caught and taken into custody by Gulfport Police shortly after the incident.
What Happened During the Robbery?
The robbery took place on Sunday, May 11, at around 9:30 p.m. at a Dollar General store in Gulfport, Mississippi. According to police, Ezell entered the store with a gun, demanded cash, and even got into a physical fight with a store employee before escaping with an undisclosed amount of money.
However, during the robbery, she apparently dropped her phone — a mistake that would later lead to her arrest.
She Came Back for Her Phone
While officers were still investigating at the scene of the crime, Ezell returned to the store and approached police officers to ask if anyone had found her lost phone. That phone, as it turned out, was the same one she had dropped during the robbery.
Recognizing her from the description and matching her to the crime, officers arrested her immediately.
Arrest and Charges
Ezell was booked into Harrison County Jail, where she is currently being held on a $100,000 bond. She faces charges related to armed robbery and assault.
Police have not disclosed how much money was taken during the robbery or if any of it has been recovered.
