Indiana – In a shocking incident that occurred inside a motel room in Indiana, a mother shot a convicted child molester multiple times after discovering him attempting to indecently assault her 12-year-old daughter, according to authorities.
The 39-year-old man, identified as B. Pierce, was critically injured in the shooting and is now facing multiple felony charges, including attempted rape, attempted child molestation, and unlawful firearm possession.
Pierce is currently hospitalized, according to police and court records. He was previously convicted of child molestation in 2016 and served eight years in prison. A warrant for his arrest remains active while he recovers from medical treatment.
The incident happened on May 24. According to court documents, Pierce had been in contact with the 12-year-old girl via online messages and phone calls, allegedly attempting to persuade her to flee with him.
On the day of the assault, the girl and her sister went to the motel to locate their mother, who was present with Pierce. It’s unclear how the mother and Pierce ended up at the motel, or what her relationship is with him.
The mother, Pierce, and the girls entered a motel room. When the 12-year-old began to feel ill, her mother and sister briefly left to carry some bags to the car, leaving the girl alone with Pierce. That brief moment transformed into a nightmare.
According to the victim, Pierce invited her to sit on the bed before grabbing her arms, pinning them down, and tearing at her clothes. He allegedly ripped her tank top and underwear, but she claims he did not touch any other parts of her body.
Witnesses claimed Pierce had a gun on or near him during the assault. At that critical moment, the mother returned to the room and discovered Pierce on top of her daughter.
She yelled at him, enraged and horrified, before pulling out her gun and shooting Pierce several times. The mother and daughter fled the scene, along with other relatives waiting in the car, and dialed 911.
Pierce was transported to a nearby hospital and was listed in critical condition on May 24. Authorities have not provided any updates on his current status.
Despite his hospitalization, authorities issued an arrest warrant for the serious felony charges that he will face once he leaves the hospital.
The 12-year-old girl was transported to a children’s hospital for medical examination. She also suffered minor injuries after being allegedly struck by the suspect’s gun during the incident.
