In a tragic case that has deeply shocked the New York community, 33-year-old Drew G. has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, followed by 15 years of probation, after he pleaded guilty to killing his pregnant wife and stabbing their two daughters.
The violent attack, which happened on September 4, 2024, was reportedly fueled by his anger over the gender of their unborn child, who was a girl.
What Happened on the Day of the Attack
According to the New York State Police, officers responded to the couple’s home after receiving a domestic violence call just two days after Labor Day. When they arrived, Drew surrendered at the scene and was taken into custody. He had minor self-inflicted injuries and was first taken to a hospital before being moved to jail, where he was held without bail.
Samantha G., 29, who was five months pregnant, was rushed to the hospital by helicopter but sadly died from her injuries shortly after. Their two daughters, aged 6 and 9, were also stabbed but survived the brutal attack. They are now living with extended family members.
The Motive Behind the Violence
Although police did not officially confirm a motive, Samantha’s father gave a powerful and emotional statement during the sentencing. He said Drew was angry because he wanted a boy, and the news of expecting a third girl triggered the violence.
He also spoke about the deep trauma the girls are facing, saying their emotional wounds will take years to heal after losing their mother and suffering violence at the hands of their father.
Court Hearing and Sentencing
During the sentencing, Drew asked the court for permission to contact his daughters while serving his prison term. But District Attorney S. Smith strongly opposed this, calling for a no-contact order to protect the children.
Judge J. Hubbard agreed and signed stay-away orders valid until the year 2056. He said that only the girls themselves, once they become adults, could choose to reach out if they wanted. Drew refused to sign the order, showing a lack of remorse.
“You took a life and injured your children. They had a right to expect protection from you,” the judge said firmly.
A Family Torn Apart
Just before the attack, Samantha’s social media was filled with photos showing a happy family — smiling with her husband and daughters. But those pictures now tell a heartbreaking story of a life that seemed peaceful on the outside but ended in unimaginable tragedy.
Prosecutors also mentioned that Drew was facing felony firearm charges, including possession of an AK-47, although these were not part of his final sentencing. The focus remained on the murder and assault charges.
