If you’re someone who receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you might be surprised to hear that there won’t be a payment in June 2025. But don’t worry — you’re not losing money, and nothing is being taken away. It’s just a small change in the payment schedule.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) confirmed this change earlier this year. Due to the way the calendar falls, the June SSI payment will be made a little early — on May 30, 2025.
Why Is There No SSI Payment in June 2025?
Normally, SSI payments are sent out on the 1st of every month. But when that date is a weekend or a public holiday, the SSA sends the money on the last business day before that.
This year, June 1 falls on a Saturday. That means the payment won’t be made in June at all — it will be moved to Friday, May 30, 2025, which is the last working day of May.
So technically, you’re still getting your June money, just a couple of days earlier.
Does This Happen Often?
Yes, it’s not a one-time thing. This type of calendar shift happens multiple times a year.
In 2025, there are three months when SSI payments will be moved up:
- March payment will be sent on February 28
- June payment will be sent on May 30
- November payment will be sent on October 31
This helps the SSA avoid sending out two payments in the same month, which can cause confusion and may even affect other support programs that people rely on.
What If You Depend on SSI?
SSI is a special program funded by taxes, meant for people with limited income and resources — like elderly people, children, and adults with disabilities. It’s different from Social Security retirement or SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance).
Many people who receive SSI also get help from other programs. So even a small change in payment dates can sometimes affect their eligibility for other assistance. That’s why it’s important to know when your money will arrive and plan accordingly.

Will You Lose Money?
Absolutely not. The SSA made it very clear that this is just a timing change. You’ll still receive the same total amount over the year. There is no loss in benefits, just a reshuffling of when they arrive.
Maximum SSI Payment Amounts in 2025
Not everyone receives the same SSI amount. The payment depends on your living situation and whether you’re married or not.
Here’s what you could receive in 2025:
- Individuals can get up to $967 per month
- Couples can receive up to $1,450 per month
These are the maximum amounts and not everyone qualifies for the full sum. How much you get will depend on your income, resources, and living conditions.
How Will You Get Paid?
Most people receive their money through Direct Express cards, which are safe and quick. Those who still use paper checks (which are rare now) will also get their payment on May 30, 2025.
What About the Next Payment?
After the early June payment on May 30, the next payment will be on July 1, and that date is not changing. So you’ll go about a full month without an SSI deposit in June, but your benefits resume as normal in July.
