Pedestrian Struck on I-44 in Burkburnett, Airlifted in Critical Condition

A serious accident occurred in Burkburnett, Texas, on the morning of Friday, May 9, 2025, when a pedestrian was struck by a truck while attempting to cross the highway.

The incident happened at 10:50 a.m. on northbound I-44, just north of Sheppard Road, according to Burkburnett Police Department Captain Shane Culp.

What Happened?

Police say a male pedestrian was trying to cross the highway when a driver of a truck could not stop in time. The driver swerved, but still hit the pedestrian with the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Emergency services arrived quickly at the scene. The truck remained on-site after the crash, and the driver stayed at the location during the investigation.

Victim in Critical Condition

Captain Culp confirmed that the pedestrian was still alive but in critical condition when first responders reached him. He was airlifted by CareFlite to a hospital in Fort Worth for emergency treatment.

No Charges Filed

At this time, no criminal charges have been filed. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
