Residents of Pleasant Valley and River Road are working together to establish a Recognized Neighborhood Association with the City of Amarillo. Their goal is to secure city assistance for essential community improvements, including ADA-accessible sidewalks, park upgrades, and business support.
By collecting signatures and demonstrating commitment, residents hope to show the City Oversight Committee that they are serious about revitalizing their neighborhoods.
Why Become a Recognized Neighborhood Association?
Benefits of Recognition
A Recognized Neighborhood Association enables communities to:
- Access city planning resources, funds, and grants for revitalization.
- Improve infrastructure, such as sidewalks, roads, and public parks.
- Enhance communication with city officials to address community concerns.
- Support local businesses and encourage economic growth.
Resident Leadership
Hope McCoy, a long-time Pleasant Valley resident, initiated this effort. She has already collaborated with Potter County Commissioners and city officials to ensure the proper steps are taken.
“We would like some of that funding out here so that we can thrive, grow, clean up, and make this a better place for our children,” McCoy said.

To inform residents and gather support, a public meeting will be held:
- Date: March 1, 2025
