Rider students flying to L.A. for Regeneron ISEF

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Three students from Rider High School will fly to Los Angeles on Sunday, May 12, 2024, to represent the Red River Region in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, or ISEF for short.

Jun Park, Evan Liang, and Zara Farooq won the opportunity to compete with their project studying the diagnostic process for pancreatic cancer. The students will participate all week and said they’re excited about the fair and looking forward to other things.

“We planned out what we’re going to do every free afternoon,” Zara Farooq said, standing between her peers. “We want to go to the beach, Universal (Studios). I wanted to go to Disney World, but they’re not agreeing, so we’ll see.”

Regeneron ISEF is the world’s largest pre-college science, technology, engineering, and mathematics competition and will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The engineering fair is an in-person event complemented by a virtual site where finalists will share their projects online. All judging and events will be in person.

We wish them the best of luck!
