Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn Walks Offstage Early, Battling Illness [Watch]

Country music fans were left concerned during Brooks & Dunn’s concert in Indianapolis on April 3, when Ronnie Dunn, one-half of the legendary duo, appeared to be under the weather. Although he gave it his best shot, Dunn couldn’t finish the show as planned, and fans quickly noticed something wasn’t right.

Fans Notice Ronnie Struggling on Stage

As the show went on, it became clear that Ronnie wasn’t feeling well. Known for his strong and powerful voice, Dunn had trouble hitting his usual high notes. Some people in the crowd said he looked “winded” and out of breath.

During the song “Rock My World (Little Country Girl),” Dunn sat down behind the microphone stand and only got up to sing when he felt strong enough. A video posted on TikTok showed him seated on the stage risers while trying to keep up with the performance.

Ronnie Leaves the Stage Early

Despite pushing through most of the concert, Dunn had to leave the stage early. During the final song, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” he sang the first verse, but by the chorus, it was clear he was done for the night.

He told the crowd, “Sing it if you know it,” then made a hand gesture to his guitarist, as if to say he couldn’t continue. He walked to the front of the stage, waved to the crowd, and gently patted his chest, signaling that he had lost his voice. Then he quietly exited the stage.

Quick Recovery and Back on Stage the Next Day

The band didn’t say much about the incident at the time, but a short Instagram story, which later expired, mentioned that they were still planning to perform the next night in Peoria, Illinois. Thankfully, Dunn was back on stage for that show, showing fans he was already feeling better.

Health Struggles in Recent Months

Although it’s not fully clear what caused Ronnie Dunn to fall ill in Indianapolis, he has faced several health issues recently. Back in March, he was still recovering from both COVID-19 and strep throat.

He even joked about it, calling it “strovid.” On Instagram, he admitted that those shows were hard for him and that battling the flu and strep was especially tough for a singer.

Earlier in December, Dunn also injured his knee while skiing. His daughter revealed on social media that he needed a knee replacement surgery, which forced him to take an eight-week break from performing.
