Senator John Kennedy (R-Louisiana) stirred controversy during a recent appearance on Fox News, where he harshly criticized Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York).
In his comments, he referred to her as having a “billy goat brain and a mockingbird mouth,” while attacking her stance on several political issues.
Kennedy said that although Ocasio-Cortez is “entitled to her opinions,” he believes she lacks thoughtful ideas and simply repeats talking points.
Kennedy Targets Democrats Over Trump Criticism
Kennedy went further in his comments, accusing Democrats of focusing only on opposing former President Donald Trump.
“I believe in the power of ideas, and my Democratic colleagues have no ideas. All they have is hatred for one man — President Trump — even when he’s right,” Kennedy said.
He added that such behavior is unhealthy for both the Democratic Party and American politics overall.
Ocasio-Cortez Responds to Other Topics, Not the Insult
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s office has not yet officially responded to Kennedy’s remarks.
Instead, she focused on what she sees as more pressing issues. When asked about her potential presidential ambitions, Ocasio-Cortez brushed off the speculation:
“Frankly, I think people should be most concerned about the fact that Republicans are trying to cut Medicaid right now,” she told Fox News Digital.
She emphasized that protecting health care access remains her main priority at the moment.
Growing Speculation About 2028 Presidential Run
In recent weeks, Ocasio-Cortez has been gaining attention as a possible 2028 Democratic presidential candidate. A new poll in March ranked her at the top when voters were asked which Democratic leader best represents the party’s core values.
Her tour across the country alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) has added fuel to the rumors. A recently released promotional video of the tour has a presidential campaign-like tone, though Ocasio-Cortez has denied making any official moves toward a run.
