The Wichita Falls Police Department has arrested four people in connection with a murder investigation; however, none of them have been charged with murder. Three people have been charged with aggravated perjury, and one with unlawful possession of a firearm. Still, one man remains connected to each of these charges.
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
On March 4, 2025, Wichita Falls police detectives obtained a search warrant for Elmondo Gildon’s home as part of their investigation into a homicide that occurred in May 2024. The next day, police searched the home and discovered a USB storage device containing videos from surveillance cameras around the house.
The videos, which were from May 2024, showed Gildon in possession of a gun on five separate occasions — both at his home and in a car.
Police also reviewed Gildon’s phone, where they found that he was fearing retaliation. In his messages, he mentioned that he had to stay up at night and “watch his yard.” It is unclear what retaliation Gildon was concerned about.
Gildon has a long criminal record dating back to the late 1990s and is currently on parole until 2028. Because of his parole status and the videos showing him with a gun, he was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
Gildon was arrested on April 9, 2025, and remains in the Wichita County Jail with a hold from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Aggravated Perjury
Between March 27 and March 31, police charged three women with aggravated perjury in connection with the ongoing murder investigation. The women — Brittany Johnson, Zelma Barry, and Latarrah Roberts — had all communicated with Gildon.
Police said these women lied under oath during their court testimony on March 19. In a recorded phone interview from February, Johnson told police she had seen Gildon with a rifle, but during her testimony, she denied saying this. This inconsistency led to her arrest on March 27.
On March 29, police arrested Zelma Barry after she testified that Gildon had visited her home after her interview with police in February but denied any phone communication. Investigators found that Barry and Gildon had four Facebook Messenger video calls after the interview.
Two days later, Latarrah Roberts was arrested. She had testified that she had not communicated with Gildon after her interview with police on March 3, but investigators found a text thread between Roberts and Gildon, where they discussed meeting up the day after her interview.
All three women bonded out of jail on the same day or the day after their arrests.
The Murder Investigation
All of the arrest warrants in this case mentioned either an “active murder investigation” or a “homicide that occurred in May 2024”. However, Texoma’s Homepage was unable to confirm which incidents are connected to these investigations.
When Texoma’s Homepage reached out to the police to inquire about potential murder charges, they were unable to provide any information. They also declined to identify any victims related to these investigations at the time of the inquiry.
