Over the weekend, the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) arrested a man on charges of sexual battery at a local nightclub.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning at Club Gemini, located on Greenwood Road. SPD received a call about the situation, and upon arrival, officers were approached by a woman who claimed that a man had grabbed her in a sexually inappropriate manner without her consent while inside the club.
Arrest of Demetrius McCoy
The police quickly entered the club and located a man matching the woman’s description. The man, Demetrius McCoy, was arrested and charged with one count of sexual battery.
What is Sexual Battery?
Sexual battery is defined by law as the intentional touching of the anus or genitals either directly or through clothes, without consent.
McCoy Taken to Jail
McCoy was transported to the Shreveport City Jail, where he is being held.

The Shreveport Police Department issued a statement saying, “The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to thoroughly investigating all allegations of sexual misconduct and encourages anyone who believes they have been a victim of a similar crime to contact our office at 318-673-7300.
