Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport Police Department has announced a major development in a year-old homicide investigation. Detectives with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit have arrested a suspect in connection with the June 2024 stabbing death of Peggy Smith at the Wellington Square Apartments on Jewella Avenue.
Case Background
In June 2024, officers responded to a stabbing at 1812 Jewella Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a female victim—later identified as Peggy Smith—who was pronounced dead at the scene. Since then, investigators have been working to track down the person responsible.
Break in the Case
On June 12, 2025, detectives received crucial new information regarding a suspect’s identity and location. That lead pointed them to Carl Graham, who was brought in for questioning. Following a detailed interview, Graham was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.
