On the day of the incident, Kerry Carter called Hutto police with a terrifying message—he had just killed two people and was about to commit suicide. Officers rushed to the scene, but as they arrived at the residence, they heard a single gunshot.

When they cautiously entered the home, they discovered three deceased individuals:

  • 58-year-old Deffenia Lynch
  • 41-year-old Iosha Shaw
  • 60-year-old Kerry Carter

Carter had killed the mother and daughter before turning the gun on himself.

Disturbing Discoveries at the Scene

While searching the home, officers made additional discoveries that suggested Carter may have planned to destroy the crime scene.

  • A smoke-filled vehicle was found in the garage, appearing to have been left running in an attempt to fill the space with fumes.
