Wichita Falls experienced high winds and dust Friday morning.
At 2 p.m., the National Weather Service reported westerly winds gusting up to 53 mph and blowing dust.
According to the Burkburnett Fire Department, a multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate Highway 44 north of the Red River bridge occurred due to low visibility. The multiple vehicle accident occurred at mile marker 1 in Oklahoma.
The wreck temporarily closed the highway, but by 2 p.m., BFW reported that travel had resumed slowly.
The Red River Bridge is open.
Wichita Falls and much of the surrounding region were issued a red flag wildfire warning, as well as a high wind warning.
At 11:45 a.m., emergency crews responded to a wildfire near Huntington Lane and Iowa Park Road.
By 2 p.m. Friday, Oncor reported that approximately 600 customers in Wichita Falls and 1,500 in the surrounding area had lost power.
By late morning, Wichita Falls first responders had received numerous reports of downed power lines and obstacles blown into roadways.
The National Weather Service predicts wind gusts of around 55 mph throughout the day, with dust blowing until 11 p.m.
