In a strange turn of events, a 9-foot statue of Elon Musk near the SpaceX launch site in Boca Chica, Texas, was vandalized recently. While many admire Musk as a tech icon and space visionary, not everyone shares the same feelings—and it seems someone decided to express that by attacking a sculpture dedicated to him.
The statue, created to honour Musk’s work and internet fame, was seriously damaged. Pictures shared online show that the bust was marked, scratched, and defaced—though no one knows yet exactly how the damage was done. Some joked it might have been a knife, an axe, or even something as wild as a “pet velociraptor.” In truth, it’s unclear.
The Story Behind the Elon Musk Bust
This statue wasn’t something Musk himself paid for. It was commissioned by a French entrepreneur, inspired by a popular meme drawing of Elon that was later turned into a crypto token. The bust had become a sort of local landmark, especially for Musk’s fans and SpaceX supporters visiting the area.
The ElonRWA X (formerly Twitter) account, which promotes Musk’s ventures and memes, posted about the incident:
Last weekend, our statue paying tribute to the Memelord @ElonMusk has been vandalized 😢
We will never give up, we will never concede.
We will keep supporting Elon’s mission to make life multiplanetary & extend the light of consciousness to the stars ✨

Their post gained attention, with many Musk supporters replying with messages like “never surrender” and “Occupy Mars”—showing continued support for Elon’s long-term vision of space colonization and innovation.
Growing Trend of Anti-Musk Vandalism
Sadly, this isn’t the first case of anti-Musk vandalism. Across the United States, Tesla showrooms, Cybertrucks, and other Musk-related locations have been targeted by those upset about his increasing role in politics, technology, and recently, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
It’s not fully clear whether these actions are planned protests or random acts of anger. But what is clear is that real financial damage is being done—and the legal risks for those involved are serious.
Is Vandalism an Effective Protest?
At the end of the day, the defacing of this statue raises important questions. While people are free to express their opinions, vandalism is still a crime. Damaging public or private property can lead to heavy fines or even jail time.
And in this case, the irony is strong. The statue was not paid for by Elon Musk himself. So, attacking it may not achieve much, except causing harm to the people who built it to show support for someone they admire.
