Some may believe that Matt Hipke’s death was well-deserved, but it did not provide the necessary closure for one of the victims’ mothers. When asked about Hipke’s death, Heather Jolicoeur expressed no satisfaction. Instead, she expressed a lack of closure by not witnessing Hipke’s sentencing.

Found Dead at Home: Details Surrounding Hipke’s Passing

According to court records, Hipke, a 62-year-old white male, pleaded guilty on March 31. However, before being sentenced on Friday, April 25th, Hipke was discovered dead at his Longview home.

The cause of death was not disclosed, but police stated that there was no immediate threat to the public. It was also reported that an autopsy had been ordered.

Years of Allegations: The Timeline of Hipke’s Case

The accusations against Hipke were first filed in 2020, with some of the crimes dating back to 2017. He was initially charged with sexually assaulting children on a continuous basis. Hipke counseled the two boys for 18 months.

Chilling Phone Call: Hipke’s Reaction to Initial Arrest

During his initial arrest, while the police were searching his office, Hipke asked if he could call his wife. Hipke apologized to his wife over the phone and stated that it would ruin his career.

License Suspended: Medical Board Took Action in 2020

Hipke was able to post a $1 million bond following his initial arrest. In August 2020, the Texas Medical Board suspended his license after becoming aware of the investigation.
