This weekend, some of the most awe-inspiring animals will continue touring Central Texas.
Gentle Giants in Temple
On Thursday, March 13th, the Budweiser Clydesdales were spotted making beer deliveries in Temple to several local establishments that serve Budweiser products.
March 14th, the horses stopped at Fort Cavazos. One of the event’s attendees, Jeanette Piper, wrote on Facebook, “Everyone should take the opportunity to see these gentle giants in person. I got teary-eyed the first time I came close to one. They’re magnificent creatures.”
Salado Parade Details
The Budweiser Clydesdales tour continues with a stop in Salado today at 2:00 p.m. The parade will start at the Salado Civic Center and go down Main Street. The parade is scheduled to last until three p.m., and it’s an excellent opportunity to photograph the magnificent creatures as they pull the vintage beer wagons through town.
Prohibition’s End & the Clydesdale’s Legacy
According to anheuser-busch.com, the Clydesdale was given to their father, August A. Busch, Sr., in St. Louis, by two of the Busch sons to commemorate the repeal of the beer prohibition in 1933.
Busch recognized the Clydesdale’s enormous marketing potential and had a second hitch sent to New York to commemorate the end of prohibition there as well.
Using the Clydesdales as a marketing tool was obviously a brilliant idea, given that the horses have been an icon of the Budweiser brand for nearly a century now.
