Texas Powerball Player Wins $2 Million After Spending Extra Buck

Saturday’s Powerball Results

Nobody matched all six winning numbers in Saturday night’s Powerball draw. The numbers were 12-28-33-36-54, and the Powerball number was 5.

However, two individuals matched all five of the non-Powerball numbers. One of the winning tickets was sold in a liquor store in Boston, Massachusetts. The other was sold at the QuikTrip (QT) convenience store on Hot Wells Boulevard in southeast San Antonio.

The person who bought the winning ticket in Boston is owed $1 million. However, the San Antonio winner paid an extra buck to Power Play his ticket, doubling his or her winnings to $2 million.

Most major cash winners prefer to remain anonymous, so the Texas winner’s name is unlikely to be revealed. The most recent Powerball jackpot winner was on January 18, when an Oregon resident bought a winning ticket worth $328.5 million.

The Next Powerball Jackpot

Since no one matched all six winning numbers, the next Powerball jackpot will be $398 million, with an estimated lump sum payout of $185.7 million. The next drawing, coincidentally, will be on Monday, March 17. Someone could win a lot of ‘green’ on St. Patrick’s Day.

Mega Millions Jackpot Continues to Rise

The Mega Millions jackpot has also exceeded $300 million. The next Mega Millions drawing will be held on Tuesday, March 18. The jackpot has now risen to $301 million, with an estimated lump sum payout of $139.5 million.

Even though someone will eventually win the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots, keep in mind that the odds of winning either top prize are about one in 300,000,000.

Play responsibly.
