The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as “food stamps,” helps low-income individuals and families in the U.S. afford groceries and stay protected from hunger.
Though it’s a federal program, each state handles its own distribution schedule. In Texas, SNAP payments are sent out throughout the month depending on each recipient’s case number, officially known as the Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number.
As May 2025 comes to an end, only a few groups remain to receive their monthly benefits. Here’s a complete breakdown of who’s getting paid in the final days of May and what the payment schedule looks like for June.
SNAP Payments in Texas: May 2025 Final Deposits
SNAP benefits in Texas are sent from May 1 to May 28, with the exact date depending on the last two digits of your EDG number. If you haven’t yet received your May payment, check your EDG number to see if you’re in the last payout group.
Who receives benefits on May 27?
If the last two digits of your EDG number are between 93 and 95, your benefits will be deposited on May 27.
Who receives benefits on May 28?
If your EDG number ends in 96 through 99, your deposit will arrive on May 28, which is the final day of the SNAP distribution window for Texas in May.
If your EDG number falls outside of these ranges, your payment should have already been made earlier in the month.

Maximum SNAP Benefit Amounts in Texas for 2025
SNAP benefits vary depending on the number of people in your household. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) adjusts these amounts yearly based on inflation and changes in the cost of living.
For the fiscal year running from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025, here are the maximum monthly benefit amounts for Texas and other continental U.S. states:
- 1 person – up to $292
- 2 people – up to $536
- 3 people – up to $768
- 4 people – up to $975
- 5 people – up to $1,158
- 6 people – up to $1,390
- 7 people – up to $1,536
- 8 people – up to $1,756
- Each additional person – add $220
These amounts are meant to help cover the basic nutritional needs of each household, though actual benefits may be lower based on income, rent, utilities, and other factors.
What About Other States and Territories?
In places with higher food prices—like Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands—SNAP allotments are different. For example, in Alaska, a family of four might receive between $1,258 to $1,953 per month due to the increased cost of groceries in remote or high-cost areas.
Each state or territory follows the federal program but tailors the exact schedule and amounts to match local economic conditions.
