Country music fans have a lot to celebrate this year. The Country Music Hall of Fame has announced its 2024 inductees, and the names are truly legendary. June Carter Cash, Kenny Chesney, and producer Tony Brown are the latest to be added to this prestigious list. Their contributions to the world of country music have shaped generations, and this honour recognises their lifelong dedication.
The announcement was made on March 25 during a live press conference hosted by Hall of Fame member Vince Gill. The event was also streamed live on the Country Music Association’s YouTube channel.

Tony Brown: Non-Performer Inductee
Tony Brown, from Greensboro, North Carolina, is one of the most respected producers in country music. He started out as a pianist and played for big names like Elvis Presley, Emmylou Harris, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Rodney Crowell. Over time, he became known for discovering and shaping the careers of many top country stars.
Vince Gill, who introduced all the inductees, said that Brown played a big part in his own career. In fact, Brown convinced Gill to record his emotional hit “Go Rest High on That Mountain,” which turned out to be one of his most important songs.
During the event, Brown said that being inducted into the Hall of Fame is bigger than any money he’s ever made in his career. He was deeply touched and said this moment was one of the biggest achievements of his life.
June Carter Cash: Veteran Era Artist Inductee
June Carter Cash is remembered not only as the wife of the great Johnny Cash but as a strong artist in her own right. She was a singer, songwriter, and a key figure in preserving the history of country music. She even wrote the famous song “Ring of Fire.”
Vince Gill called her the “matriarch” of country music and shared a touching story where Johnny Cash once said he feared she would be overlooked because she lived in his shadow.
June’s children, Carlene Carter and John Carter Cash, spoke on her behalf. Carlene called her mother “a force of nature,” while John recalled her lifelong love for the song “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.” He said she sang it more than anyone else and truly carried the spirit of country music with her.
June Carter Cash’s influence and warm personality left a mark on everyone she met. Even today, she continues to inspire artists across the world.
Kenny Chesney: Modern Era Artist Inductee
Kenny Chesney, from East Tennessee, is known for blending rock energy with country storytelling. Starting off by playing in a college bluegrass band, he slowly made his way into the mainstream and became one of the biggest stars in modern country music.
At the event, Chesney shared how a concert by the band Alabama lit a fire in him when he was young. That experience set him on the path to becoming a singer. He said he never imagined being inducted into the Hall of Fame but always chased a big dream.
Chesney said he wanted to write songs that reflected the everyday lives of his fans and spread positivity through his music. Now, standing in the Hall of Fame, he says the dream feels real—and beautiful.

All three new members—Tony Brown, June Carter Cash (posthumously), and Kenny Chesney—will officially be inducted during a special Medallion Ceremony in October 2024. This ceremony is one of the most special events in the country music world, where legends are honoured for their lasting impact.
