The “Dumbest Splurge Purchase Ever” Story of LoCash’s “Taste of Country Nights: On Demand”

The Dumbest Splurge Purchase Ever Story of LoCash's Taste of Country Nights On Demand

Country singer Chris Lucas of LoCash has made plenty of big purchases over the years, but one in particular led to an awkward conversation with his wife. In a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, Lucas revealed the hilarious story of how he bought a jet ski—only to later realize he couldn’t afford it and had nowhere to use it.

Let’s dive into this amusing financial misstep and what happened to the missing jet ski!

Chris Lucas’ Knucklehead Purchase: A Jet Ski He Didn’t Need

During a discussion about splurge purchases, Lucas didn’t hesitate to admit, “I got a lot of those.” But the one that stands out? A jet ski he bought simply because his credit score was 800.

While plenty of country artists enjoy life on the water, there was just one problem—Lucas didn’t actually have a good place to use it. At the time, he lived in Nashville, Tennessee, where options for riding a jet ski were limited.

To make matters worse, he was rarely home due to his music career.

Things Went From Bad to Worse

Shortly after buying the jet ski, Lucas made another questionable purchase: a Ford Mustang convertible, which ended up getting repossessed just two months later. Meanwhile, the jet ski sat mostly unused, with Lucas only riding it once on Percy Priest Lake—which, as he puts it, is “dirty as hell.”

How Did Chris Lucas Handle His Jet Ski Problem?

After nearly a year of not making payments, Lucas decided to return the jet ski to the dealership.

“So I said to myself … I’m just gonna take it back to Honda. So I drop it off at Honda and I was like, ‘Hey, I can’t afford this anymore.’”

Surprisingly, the dealership didn’t stop him from leaving without it. But that’s not where the story ends!

Years later, after Lucas got married, his wife noticed a mystery charge on his credit report.

“She’s looking at my credit and she’s like, ‘Oh boy, what is this? Jet ski?’”

Confused, Lucas called the dealership to clear things up, but they had no record of the return.

“They stole my jet ski!” he joked.

His bandmate, Preston Brust, had the perfect response:

“It’s not a library book. You can’t turn it in after six months.”

What’s Next for LoCash?

Despite his financial mishaps, Lucas is doing just fine. LoCash—made up of Chris Lucas and Preston Brust—has a new album coming out this spring, and they continue to tour in 2025.

The duo is also taking a big step forward in the music industry by leading their own record label, Galaxy Label Group. Their goal is to support songwriters and ensure fair compensation in an era where streaming services pay less and less.
