Wichita Falls drivers, take note—new traffic lights have been installed at the intersection of 10th Street and Scott Avenue in downtown, and they will officially be activated on Monday, April 7.
Flashing Red Light Phase for the First Week
For the first seven days, the new signals will flash red in all directions. This means the intersection will operate as an all-way stop, where every driver must stop before proceeding. This initial phase gives drivers time to adjust to the new traffic lights and helps prevent confusion or sudden reactions.
Full Operation Begins on April 14
Starting Monday, April 14, the signals will begin operating as standard traffic lights—cycling through green, yellow, and red as usual. From that day onward, traffic flow at the intersection will be managed in the normal way.
Drivers Advised to Use Caution
The City of Wichita Falls urges drivers to stay alert, especially during the first week of flashing red lights. New signals can sometimes catch drivers off guard, especially those who pass through the area regularly and are not expecting a change.
Drivers should approach the intersection carefully, stop as required, and watch for other vehicles and pedestrians.
