Popular singer Jelly Roll has made a big lifestyle change — one that might surprise his fans. In a world where everyone is constantly online, Jelly Roll has decided to go offline completely. That’s right — he has no smartphone, no social media, and no camera. In fact, the only way you can get in touch with him is by email.
Why Jelly Roll Quit His Phone
During a recent chat on The Pivot podcast, Jelly Roll opened up about his decision to ditch his phone and simplify his life. He explained that he currently owns only a single laptop, and that’s the only device he uses for communication. He doesn’t carry a smartphone or even a basic mobile phone. Instead, he uses his laptop, which has an email and a connected number for receiving messages.
Even his close family — including his wife Bunnie Xo, his daughter Bailee, and his son Noah — can only reach him through email. They have to send a message and wait until Jelly logs into his laptop to check it.
What Made Him Take This Step?
Jelly Roll explained that this is not just a one-time decision. Every year after he finishes his tour, he goes through what he calls his “Get Rid of His Phone After Tour Saga.” This time, he actually threw his phone into the Cumberland River after wrapping up his last tour. While some thought it was just a dramatic move and expected him to get a new one soon, it’s now been almost four months — and he still hasn’t replaced it.
His main reason? He was tired of the negativity and pressure that came with social media and digital life. Jelly wanted to quiet the noise and focus more on real life — his music, his health, and his family.
How Jelly Found Out About His Daughter’s Mother’s Arrest
Jelly also revealed that he found out about a serious personal matter — the arrest of his daughter’s mother on felony drug charges — through this limited method of communication. Since he doesn’t have a phone, someone had to reach him through email, and he saw the message only when he checked his laptop.
It just shows how committed he is to this tech-free lifestyle. Even something that serious had to wait until he logged on.
A Regular Detox for Jelly Roll
This isn’t the first time Jelly has stepped away from his devices. He often switches to a flip phone or completely removes himself from online distractions after tours. It has become a regular part of his routine. He believes these breaks help him mentally recharge, stay grounded, and avoid the drama that social media often brings.
