Traffic on a Portion of Southwest Parkway Shut Down Due to Road Blockage

Wichita Falls Police are currently blocking part of Southwest Parkway after an oversized trailer became stuck, creating a traffic hazard late Monday night.

The closure is affecting the on-ramp where Southwest Parkway merges onto Highway 281. That section was already limited to just one lane due to ongoing construction, which made the situation more difficult.

What Happened?

According to WFPD Officer Kirkland, who responded to the scene, an oversized load became wedged between the guardrail and the road’s concrete dividing barriers.

A towing company was called to help remove the trailer and clear the roadway.

How Long Will the Closure Last?

First responders on scene estimated that it would take one to two hours to get the trailer dislodged and the road back open. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes during the closure.

Police and emergency crews are working to safely and quickly resolve the situation.
